What We’re Reading

The world is full of great books, magazine articles, and websites about the weather.  Here are some of the things that we are reading right now:

  • We’re looking forward to reading The Invention of Air by Steven Johnson.  It’s about the life of Joseph Priestly, the man who discovered oxygen.
  • I really enjoyed Locust, by Jeff Lockwood (who has been a guest on the program in the past).
  • The Invention of Clouds by Richard Hamblyn tells the story about how Luke Howard developed the system that is still used today to describe clouds.  This book is a must-read for anyone who has a favorite kind of cloud and knows the scientific term for it!

I read and liked the invention of air. I was spouting off about the need for acceptance and appreciation of scientific cynicism for weeks.
